APPLICATIONS

Applications In Surgery
And Gynecology Using The QUIK-STITCH
Reviewed By: James E.Carter, M.D., FACOG & Edward Felix, M.D., FACS
LIGATION - Cystic
Duct
 |
 |
 |
| A
blunt needle is used to isolate embedded structures such as the cystic
duct. |
The
needle is picked up to encircle the structure. |
The
needle and suture are withdrawn into the QUIK-STITCH cartridge. The
knot is formed and pushed into place. |
APPROXIMATION -
Uterine Bed after Myomectomy
 |
 |
 |
| Closure
of the myoma bed can be easily accomplished after removal of the myoma. |
Interrupted
sutures approximate the edges of the defect. (For
deep intramural myomas, one or more layers of interrupted sutures
are used to close the myoma bed.) |
QUIK-STITCH
locking Roeder Knots provide secure closure. |
FIXATION - Plication
of Reinforcing Mesh
 |
 |
 |
| Migration
of hernia mesh can be avoided by simple suture plication of the edges. |
A
short straight needle easily passes through the mesh weave and tissue.
|
Once
formed, the locking Roeder knot is secure. It can be loosely fashioned
to maintain the flat mesh profile. |
|
Plication
to Esophagus
and Wrapping Fundus
|
Partial
Wrap Fundoplication
|
Fixation
of Gastric Band |

 |
 |
| Nissen
Fundoplication is facillitated with the 19mm needle |
Toupet
Fundoplication is a straight forward application with the QUIK-STITCH. |
Complex
anchoring of implants can be easily done with QUIK-STITCH. |
| Ligation
& Transection of Adhesions |
Ligation
of Vessels For BSO
|
Closure
of Vaginal Cuff after Laproscopic Hysterectomy |
 |
 |
 |
A
QUIK-STITCH is placed distal and proximal adhesion is cut.
|
Ligation
of utero-ovarian vessels is demonstrated. Two QUIK-STITCH ligatures
are placed and the vessels then devided between the sutures. |
QUIK-STITCH
is placed through the pubocervical and then the rectovagina fascia
and these are approximated to close the vaginal cuff. |

Ligation |
Ligation
of Embedded Bleeder |
 |
 |
 |
| The
QUIK-STITCH is placed in a figure-of-eight fashion to close a deep
bleeding vessel. |
QUIK-STITCH
is applied around the tubal structure in two locations and the tube
devided between them. |
Bleeder
is looped while occlusion is maintained with grasper. |
